Lee Jeans

Lee is an American brand of denim jeans, first produced in 1889 in Salina, Kansas. The company was formed by Henry David Lee as the Lee Mercantile Company originally began by producing dungarees and jackets. The growth of Lee was prompted by the introduction of the Union-All work jumpsuit in 1913 and their first overall in 1920. It was later in the 1920s that Lee introduced a zipper fly and continued to expand - and it was around this time, the first children's overall line was sold. During the 1930s and 1940s the company became the leading manufacturer of work clothes, and In 1944, the Lazy "S" became the official Lee back pocket. In 1954, Lee expanded into casual wear due to heavy incorporation of the brand's jeans in mainstream film at the time, and sported by such movie stars as James Dean. In the 1970s Lee shifted its focus from the workwear business and began catering to fashion styles, leading to a transition into a new demographic of customer. Today, Lee has adopted modern updates of detailing, while retaining their heritage in such lines as the Rider collection - a range that has experienced minimal alterations, due to its timeless aesthetic.
